 Local 101 was invited in 2013 by President John Samuelsen of sister local TWU Local 100 (38,000 members strong) to move into their newly built state-of-the-art headquarters at 195 Montague St. Not only is this partnership a testament to the enduring bonds that Local 101 has forged with labor movement heavyweights, but the site of our new union hall has great historical importance for us. Brooklyn Union Gas, which owned the building before it was taken over by National Grid, was the original employer of a tremendous number of our members when we first won recognition at the company and as a union in 1942.
